News! Derbyshire Crime Stoppers Seeking Volunteers

The independent charity Crimestoppers helps make communities safer places to live and bring criminals to justice by giving people the chance to provide information about crime anonymously. Crimestoppers is highly effective – In Derbyshire, over 1800 calls were received last year (April 2010-March 2011) leading to nearly 200 people being arrested.

Crimestoppers are currently seeking Volunteers in Derbyshire. In this exciting role you will make a difference in your community by working with a successful Crimestoppers committee of volunteer members - representing and fulfilling the charity’s work and objectives across the county to get people to give them information on criminal activity.  Your role will include supporting other volunteers to deliver effective results in line with your experience, available commitment and overall aspirations.

You will need experience of delivering verbal and written proposals, and presentations or be willing to attend events to promote the charity following attendance at a training day.

To become a member of the executive committee the role requires a two year commitment but there are opportunities for associate volunteers who do not wish to attend committee meetings to work on shorter projects in the county with a smaller time commitment of between 3-12 months. Usually each volunteer commits to up to 8 hours volunteering per month. The time dedicated to the role will be balanced with the successful individual’s other demands. Reasonable out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed through committee raised funds.
