Sport and Physical Activity Action Grant

An active life with regular engagement in physical activity and sport can have a hugely beneficial impact on people's lives, local communities and Derbyshire as a whole.

The Sport and Physical Activity Grants could support:

  • Projects that aim to introduce physical activity or sport to a non-sporty group of people
  • The growth in the number of people that can take part in an activity or sport
  • Taster activities to gauge interest in future, long term provision
  • Projects that get communities moving together
  • Projects that help people regulary access green space and the natural environment
  • Activities that use physical activity to improve mental health and wellbeing

To be successful, you'll need to demonstrate how your project:

  • Addresses physical inactivity or a gap in provision
  • Has consulted with people to find out what they'd be interested in
  • Reduces inequalities
  • Increases access to physical activity or sport

Community Safety Action Grant

Crime, fear of crime and anti-social behaviour is an important consideration in the quality of life of local communities.
The Community Safety Action Grants could support activities such as:

  • Setting up a youth club/sports club to support diversionary activities
  • Hiring of equipment to enable local community groups to clean up and eyesore in the local area
  • Website development for a charity working in the community safety arena
  • Supporting victim work

To be successful, you'll need to demonstrate how your projects meets some of the criteria below:

  • Addresses Local needs to combat crime and disorder, and anti-social behaviour
  • Tackles harm from alcohol, drugs and violence
  • Reduces fear of crime
  • Helps build cohesive communities and encourages diversionary activities
  • Helps raise awareness of scams and online fraud
  • Supports activity benefiting a designated area

Your project will need to demonstrate how ongoing activity will benefit the community and meet an identified need which can be evidenced. Your project will need to be delivered promptly and within agreed timescales.

Youth Action Grants

the Youth Action Grants Programme aims to support and encourage a diverse range of youth and community activities that will improve the quality of life for local communities in Derbyshire. They are to support activities for young people ages 11-19, and up to 25 with special needs and disabilities, in their out of school time.

The Youth Action Grants could support activities such as:

  • Running a school holiday scheme
  • Setting up a youth club
  • Celebrating young people's achievements
  • A young people's arts or music projecr
  • Offering new activities for young people
  • Activities encouraging young people's entrepreneurship
  • Activities developing young people's employability skills
  • Promoting young people's activities

To be successful, you'll need to meet the criteria below:

  • Working with young people aged 11-19 (up to 25 with special needs and disabilities)
  • Out of school time activity
  • Support activity benefiting a designated area or area of interest in Derbyshire (excluding Derby City)
  • Be time limited and not require ongoing funding from the Council
  • Show how the funding can benefit young people beyond the life of the funding
  • Meet an identified need which can be evidenced
  • Be delivered promptly and within agreed timescales
  • Show how young people have helped in the identification of activity or have been consulted/engages
  • Show what difference will be made
