Rural Action Derbyshire is committed to offer a range of training opportunities specifically designed for those organisations with a responsibility of managing community buildings.

 

Marketing and Social Media
When: Wednesday 12 September 2018, 10am until 1pm

Successful marketing leads to increase bookings, increased interest and more volunteers; ultimately, towards a more thriving village hall. This training session considers the charitable objects of village and community halls; who its customers are and what they might need or want. It covers marketing principles. gives guidance on developing a marketing strategy and explores different ways of promoting a village or community hall.

Trustee Roles and Responsibilities - Charitable Village Halls

Your village hall management committee - constitutional and organisational issues involved in managing a charitable village hall.
This session will help village hall managers understand their legal responsibilities.

Health and Safety in Village and Community Halls

  • Key statutory health and safety requirements for village halls
  • How to prepare a health and safety policy and a health and safety file
  • The five steps to risk assessment

Know your halls Governing Documents and how to amend
When: Wednesday 3 October 2018, 9:30am until 12:30pm

Session includes:

  • Know your governing documents (Conveyance, Trust Deed, Lease, Indenture, etc.)
  • What it means to be a corporate village hall charity and should we change?
  • Regulary review and update your charity's governing document
  • Understanding your powers to amend and the correct procedure to follow
  • A free copy of Information Sheet 40 - Village halls, governing documents and title deeds (usually £12)

PAT - Portable Appliance Testing
When: Tuesday 16 October 2018, 1:30pm until 4:30pm
Where: Don Amott Memorial Hall, Peacroft Ln, Hilton, DE65 5GH
Fee: £100 plus VAT (£120 reduced rate through RAD; normally £144)

Quick test working with RAD - helping to keep village halls, community buildings and workplaces safe. You are required by law to ensure that the electrical equipment you supply or is brough into your community hall is safe. PAT Testing is a simple process that anyone can do following these simple guideline.

The Health and Safety Executive allows anyone to PAT test their applicances with appropriate training. By learning to carry out your own PAT testing you can:

  • Carry out testing at a covenient time
  • Avoid expensive call out costs
  • Test appliances brought in by hall users

Nost RAD training held at Matlock Town Hall is limited to 12 places, so please book early to secure your place. Places can be booked and paid for through our website, or you can download a booking form if you prefer to pay by BACS or cheque.
